To mark the 80th anniversary of the Allied landings in Normandy, COBI has released this model of a historical war site: The Notre-Dame-de-l'Assomption church in Sainte-Mere-Église became world famous due to the events of D-Day on June 6, 1944. Soldiers of the American 82nd Airborne Division were tasked with gaining control of the town of Sainte-Mere-Église. However, due to an unfortunate landing, one of the soldiers, John Steele, got stuck in the church tower. Floating high above the ground, the helpless soldier witnessed fierce fighting in the town. This set of 2280 interlocking bricks carefully recreates the church with many architectural details: the clock shows the time of the landing, the water pump near the church is another true-to-original detail. The roof of the model can be removed for easy access to the interior. Included is a figure of John Steele with a parachute.
